Current update as of Wed 3rd December:

PUBLIC MEETING

***Bridge Chapel Centre, near Heath Rd, Garston, Liverpool L19 ***

MONDAY 15th December - 6 30 pm

(Below Is Part of a Letter from Lib Dem Councillor Paula Keaveney)

This will be the first public meeting attended by planning officers (who to be fair to them were invited with virtually no notice before) and the mwda.  The idea is to give people a chance to ask questions about the process re the decision making.

Although the deadline has gone for objections, planning officers assure me that if anyone wants to send more in after this meeting that will be allowed.

The planning committee is now highly unlikely to meet re this until New Year.

We will be writing to as many Cressington ward residents as possible about this and i am putting some of those letters in the post tonight.  However i can’t speak for any activity by the Speke Garston ward councillors.

Perhaps you would be kind enough to pass this on to anyone who may be interested.

It is possible that the applicants may attend this meeting - although they are aware that they are unlikely to change anyone's minds!

OBJECTION LETTERS
The final day for objections and comments to be received by the Planning Dept. is Monday 17th November. Thank you to all those who have previously submitted their objection letters to the Council. For those who haven't yet sent their letters in, you can download a template letter and print it off from this site (we have three to choose from)
download 1
 download 2
 download 3

Alternatively, for those without printers, please email Bob at bobsblackwell@aol.com and she will post one out to you! Remember, all letters must be received at the Council Offices no later than 17th November so we suggest you post them in no later than Friday 14th to ensure they are safely received.

 PLANNING COMMITTEE MEETING

We have some well-researched individuals prepared to speak at the Planning Committee Decision Meeting who we are sure will be representing our collective voices . It is an opportunity to personaly present the case for our objection, in front of the planning commitee. The purpose of the meeting is to decide if the JAH. Ltd plan should or should not gain planning permission. As this plan proposes such a big development, it may be that the Planning Committee opt to view the proposed site in person  before they make their decision.

The Planning Committee
usually meet every 2-3 weeks. As the closing date for objection letters and comments is the 17th November, we feel that the next planned meeting for the Planning Committee (on 25th November) could be too soon for the Planning Dept. to prepare all necessary papers for the panel in time for their meeting. Therefore, we think that  JAH Ltd.'s planning application may not be considered until 9th December 2008, or even later . The date has not yet been agreed by Liverpool City Council and so we will keep you informed as soon as the date has been published.

FRIENDLY DEMONSTRATION

We are currently organising a "Friendly Demonstration" - to be held at the Council Offices on the day of the Committee Meeting and ask for all the residents and friends of Garston who are able to come and attend the demonstration do so on that day. The lovely ladies (Chris, Becca & Jan) at Garston Embassy, Wellington Road have made some fantastic banners for us and we are hoping to attract both TV cameras and newspapers to report on our demonstration. We therefore ask for all residents and friends of the campaign, who are able to work around their own committments and come and join our demonstration to keep an eye on this site for an update on time/date/meeting place for our Demonstration once we know more.
This demonstration is going to be important to us and our campaign as it will certainly raise the profile of our campaign and our objections! To join our mailing list for updates on the friendly demonstration, please email Bobsblackwell@aol.com and she will add you to our growing list of supporters and keep you updated!

GOVERNMENT PETITION

A big thank you goes to all who have recently signed our government petition - this petition will be vital to our case in opposing JAH ltd.'s plans should we be required to make a stand to the government in the near future. You can find this petition here It is a very easy process to add your name to the list and we urge all of you who haven't already done so to click on the link and sign up! A note about the last meeting on Wed 22nd.

It was suggested that this proposed autoclave will produce dioxins and that we should be worried about this.  There isnt any mention of this on the application plans.

autoclaves are designed precisely as alternatives to incineration - which does produce dioxins (e.g. from hospital waste bags).

http://www.greenpeace.org/international/campaigns/toxics/incineration/alternatives-to-incineration

As has been mentioned many times before, we must not object based on false or misleading information which can hurt our position.

There are numerous seriously valid reasons for this application to be refused.

please read the links to the udp and the quotes, as well as the template objection letters which hold no misrepresentations of the proposed plant application.

Next public meeting at Garston Urban village Hall is to be announced Address here The weight of objections is something the committee have to consider when deciding whether to grant this application.
Template letters addressing some of the relevant objections are available to download at these links

You don’t have to live in the immediate garston area to send an objection letter either!
